Nancy Beane
College Counselor
The Westminster Schools
Since 1989, Nancy Beane has been at The Westminster Schools where she teaches American history and serves as college counselor to juniors and seniors. During her 36 year public and independent school career, she has earned Teacher of the Year and Counselor of the Year honors, including GFIC's 2007 High School Counselor of the Year Award. Native to Kingsport, Tennessee, Nancy graduated from Agnes Scott College where she received a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in History. She earned an M.A.T. in History from the University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill and an Ed. S. in Social Studies from Georgia State University. She is currently on the Board of Directors for the National Association for College Admission Counseling, having previously served as President of the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling. She is also active with College Board and is on several college advisory boards for high school counselors. Nancy is a former volunteer for the Atlanta Symphony and a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
