The Gertrude and William C. Wardlaw Fund
Receives the 2009 Award of Excellence

Individuals, corporations, and foundations have all played a part in supporting private higher education through the Georgia Foundation for Independent Colleges.  Through contributions of money, time and expertise, our donors make an impact on students at our colleges and universities.  Each year, GFIC recognizes one these distinguished and loyal supporters with its AWARD of EXCELLENCE. This year's honoree joins past recipients such as the Thomas Lanier Foundation, Norfolk Southern, Stein Communications, Mr. J.B. Fuqua, Phoenix Communications, Vulcan Materials Company, Plantation Pipe Line, UPS, Coca Cola, and the Ray M. and Mary Elizabeth Lee Foundation.

In 2009, GFIC is honoring the Gertrude and William C. Wardlaw Fund.  Over the last 46 years the Foundation has given over $138,000 dollars to GFIC in undesignated funds.  These funds are then distributed to our colleges which they use for scholarships for our students.  The Foundation is located in Orlando, Florida.  The Foundation has assets of 17 million and an income of $2.8 million annually. It gives gifts, grants and loans to other organizations to support their mission.
