GICA is hosting a webinar created exclusively for Compliance Collaborative members. This webinar is the fifth in a continuing series dedicated solely to discussing why each campus needs to be working toward initiating (or sustaining) a compliance program.  Each institution needs to understand the importance of knowing what laws affect a campus, if your institution in compliance with the law, and what is the plan to get the institution in compliance with the law. 

 

Topics Covered:

This specific webinar will focus on:

  • What is a Nonretaliation Policy;
  • Process for developing policies
  • Process for developing a Nonretaliation Policy;
  • Different options to investigating – internal, external, part of another process; stand-alone process;
  • How to identify what risks your institution might want to have identified through a Reporting Policy;
  • Who are the key players to report Nonretaliation to at your institution; and
  • How are you responding to allegations of retaliation;
  • How are you managing the data collection to identify patterns of risk.

Presenter/Facilitator: Judy Spain, J.D., CCEP
Judy currently serves as the GICA Compliance Program Consultant.  She is a tenured Professor, an attorney licensed in Kentucky, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania, and is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional.  She served as General Counsel and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer at Eastern Kentucky University and Manhattanville College, where she developed and inplemented compliance programs.  Jucy is author of the first book on higher education compliance, "Higher Education Compliance: Blueprint for Success".
