Elizabeth Aldredge Hometown: Peachtree City, GA A.M., Music, Andrew College "During my senior year in high school, I received a phone call from Dr. Tusing, the piano professor at Andrew. She asked me if I was familiar with Andrew College and if I would be interested in auditioning for a piano scholarship. I am not sure how she got my name, but it's a good thing that she did. After talking with Dr. Tusing for a few minutes, I wanted to know more about Andrew College." Elizabeth, a sophomore music major at Andrew, recalls her first impressions of Andrew and what helped her to decide that Andrew was the place for her. "I was very impressed that several members of the faculty and staff at Andrew pursued me and made me feel so welcome. I went to a Visitation Day and discovered that Andrew would be the perfect place for me to attend college for my first two years." "When I decided that I wanted to attend Andrew, the main obstacle that my parents and I had to overcome was the cost of attending a private college. My parents certainly did not have the means to pay my way through college, and we were unsure about financial aid and scholarship opportunities. It seemed like I would be unable to attend Andrew because of money issues." However, the admission and financial aid staff at Andrew responded to Elizabeth's needs with a comprehensive financial aid package, which included a piano scholarship, the HOPE scholarship, the Pell Grant, the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant, and a Stafford Loan. The aid package that Andrew College offered to Elizabeth made the decision for her, and it is a decision that she is very happy with. "The experiences that I have had, the classes that I have taken, and the people that I have met have all provided me a valuable education and prepared me for the next step and for life after college. I know that I have a bright future because I chose to attend Andrew College." |
